Wine: Still Red.

Grape: 65% Merlot/35% Cabernet Sauvignon

Vintage: 2017

Grape Source: Coastal Central Albania

Made: Albania and Bethnal Green, UK.

Due to Albania being out of the EU (and it being illegal back in 2017 to make wine in the EU from grapes not grown in the EU) we went to Albania to make this wine. Brought it back as a fresh very young wine and aged and blended it in London. Mix of woods and techniques as described below. In terms of flavours, think rightbank Bordeaux. Kinda. This wine is nothing like you’d expect from Albanian grapes. Silky, balanced tannins, blackcurrant, spice, a super complex and evolving wine that can age as well as any premium Bordeaux. 25% whole bunch fermentation 80% used French oak 10% new French oak barrels 5% ex-Bourbon Whiskey barrels 5% new chestnut barrels.

Who is Vern? Vern works in accounts for a well known and exceptional East London based coffee roaster and lives in Whitechapel.

Unfiltered. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
