Maria - 2022 Madeleine Angevine - Skin Contact (Herefordshire, England) - Maria is a really special one. A floral nose with wonderful apricot aromas balanced nicely with a focused dry palate. Herbal notes are forthcoming, basil and mint leaf with a tinge of lemon peely acidity. This wine walks the line between acidity, fruit and floral elements. A certified banger. Destemmed into our Georgian qvevri where it spent 6 days on skins, then pressed off into stainless steel where it underwent malolactic fermentation. Maria then spent 7 months on lees to increase complexity and mouthfeel. The wine was then lightly filtered before bottling. Minimal SO2 additions were made.

 This wine was made by two of the Renegade team, Patrick Marriott and Fleur de Boer and overseen by Andrea our Lead Winemaker. All key decisions regarding winemaking were made by Patrick and Fleur.

Araceli - 2021 Pinot Grigio Ramato - Skin Contact (Pfalz) - This is one of the most interesting and unusual wines we've made (so far!). It's Pinot Grigio from the Pfalz, Germany, but not as you know it. Why is this wine, ‘Araceli’ a strange colour? We ferment it fully on the skins for 2 weeks, so the pinky golden skins colour the wine and make it go 'ramato' or 'copper' as the Italians call it. It's essentially a red wine but made from pink grapes (rather that red grapes). So what is it like? It is a really complex, unusual wine that has notes of white pepper, cherry, vanilla, cloves, and a real wild strawberry-ness when it starts to open up. She's got a lightly tannic yet soft structure but is really well rounded and changes constantly as you drink her.
