'Bridget' 2023 Sparkling Pink

from £34.00
Format:

Grapes grown in Essex, UK

Wine fully made in London, UK

Grape variety: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon

Vintage: 2023

What’s the wine like?

Raspberries, cream, white pepper.

Bridget is a complex, yet approachable - very dry with a lovely mouthfeel and great amount of bubbles. Crafted with real care at our Walthamstow Winery.

Soft fruit on the nose and super pale - just like our favourite pig Bridget’s nose. Far too easy to drink, well rounded with a little Renegade twist of a small amount of English Cabernet Sauvignon.

A bit of the story and collaboration with Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary

When Renegade’s founder Warwick described the colour he envisioned for our new wine, he used the phrase, "You know, pale pink, like a pig's nose." Not long after one pink nose became the focus, and this pig was front of mind during much of the winemaking process.

As every pig has a story, Warwick wanted to find out more about the pig behind the nose. On further investigation our search led us to a pig defined as "Nose 1" on a website, who we soon learned from the farm’s Chief Animal Carer was Bridget.

I'm sure it's not every day that you get a call from a winery asking to learn more about a pig whose nose has captivated a winemaking team. It was incredible to learn about Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary, a phenomenal project and really shows how a few people can do incredible work for hundreds of animals.

What makes the whole thing even more unbelievable is that Bridget (and the other animals) live only a few miles away from where the grapes for this wine were grown. Both are products of the Crouch Valley in Essex, so of course the Renegade team had to visit the sanctuary to photograph and get to know Brigite.

Martin had one important question though before he'd let us in the gates. "Will Pigs Nose Pink aka Brigitte be a vegan wine?". Yes, is the answer. All the Renegade wines are made without the use of any animal products.

If you love Bridget as much as us and want to support Martin, Fiona and their incredible project, you can donate by clicking the link below.
